not loading Javascript correctly

    Hi,

    I added your plugin on another site without issues, but on this site I am having trouble. When I try to send a form, it tells me that javascript is not loading correctly.

    – WordPress and all plugins are fully updated
    – PHP version is 7.4.16
    – the site has no caching plugin
    – I tried deactivating plugins: this did not help
    – I tried switching themes: this does help… so the issue is with the theme

    I can understand if this is something you cannot help with, but I am hoping you can…
    Unfortunately I am working with an old theme, that can not be easily updated. I hope it is something I can fix, but is there any indication you could give what the issue is and how I can solve it?

    For now: reverted to CF7, even though I prefer your plugin, but at least that way it still works.
    Hopefully I can convince the client to let me change the theme!

    Since you’ve narrowed it down the issue revolves around the theme which in my view might be using some old JS library or codes. Though you’ve switched to a different plugin, ideally, we suggest you either update the theme (if available) which you’ve mentioned is a bit of an issue, or you may also consider using a different theme.

    You can take a look at WPBeginner’s guide on updating the theme and steps you can follow to switch to a different theme.

    Yes, it is definitely an issue with an old JS library. Like I said: the theme is an old one, or to be more precise a custom child theme I made years ago, based on an old theme that is unfortunately no longer updated.
    Making a new (child)theme with all the custom work that went in there is something I can do, but it will cost the client money she may not want to spend.

    Thanks for your response anyway, it confirms what I suspected. I will see if I can do something about the library, without breaking other parts of the site…

    Yea – your observation is correct. If the theme is an old JS library which can cause compatibility issues, updating the current code base might be the ideal way forward given the circumstances rather than switching to a new theme.
