  • @Jalinous- Thanks a lot for sharing your valuable feedback. I agree that the free version still has a long distance to cover and we are working hard to add new features with every update. To answer your question- We do have a Shipping module based on Flat Rate Shipping option provided by default WooCommerce. To know more about it, please check the user guide: https://wc-marketplace.com/knowledgebase/wcmp-shipping/. Coincidence is that even right now, we are working on the shipping module itself to make it better.

Though I am a bit surprised with your statement” it seems to me that any major feature is being sold as an add-on.” We just have 5 paid add-ons with the most important ones’ being the “Frontend Product Manager” and the “Vendor Frontend Reports“. Now, the features from the aforementioned add-ons are already present in the free version too. All that changes with add-ons in the interface. With free, both product and detailed reports are available only in the backend.

I am open to your suggestions to enhance the free version as that is and would always be the core.

    Hi,

Thank you for your quick response

I am familiar with the shipping options in WooCommerce but it is not very multi-vendor focused shipping system.

Is there any option in your plugin to help calculate the shipping for an oder of multiple different products from ONE vendor (to keep it simple)?

I would like to have each product of this vendor to have different shipping cost and different shipping cost for different destination and shipping options for each vendor.

I know it is not simple but what is the solution you are offering besides the shipping options provided by WooCommerce?

By the way, how do you compare your plugin to WC Vendors Free Version and Pro Version of it?

    Thanks,
    Jalinous

Thanks for the revert Jalinous. I think the user guide already carries the answer to your question, anyways here it is again-

WC Marketplace uses Shipping Class cost of Flat Rate as this meets the basic requirement of multi-vendor shipping i.e. different shipping costs for different products or rather say a group of products (a Group here represents products from the same vendor). By default the provision to create shipping class is only with website admin and he can create multiple shipping classes. This has been modified so that users with the role of the vendor can also create shipping classes; the only limitation is that they can only create one class.

When an approved vendor adds a shipping cost using the aforementioned logic for his/her products, the plug-in automatically creates a shipping class. For easy reference, the name of the shipping class is same as that of the username of the vendor. A vendor needs to assign the created shipping class when they create a product. If they don’t do this, they don’t earn a shipment cost and it is considered that vendor is planning to bear the shipping cost. Please note that a vendor would see only the class that represents them and not the ones created by admin or other vendors.

Coming to the shipping module that you desire-” different shipping cost for different destination and shipping options for each vendor”

    >> The enhanced shipping module for WCMp is already under development and within next 15 days, you should be able to use https://www.woothemes.com/products/table-rate-shipping/. The plan is to keep the zone creation capability only to the site admin whereas the vendors would be able to define multiple shipping costs for each zone.

Last but not the least, being the plugin author our comments on feature comparison between WCMp-WC Vendors( Free)- WC Vendors( Paid) wouldn’t be morally correct. I would rather let community users decide, if you are seeking my personal vote, I would go ahead with WC Marketplace.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Hi Sandeep,

Thank you for the clarification. In my current e-commerce solution, I am using the shipping classes. That means, in general, one vendor one shipping class. Also, I have to manually assign each vendor a shipping class. A new Vendor can’t create their own shipping class.

But the real challenge I have with this method is that a Vendor might have multiple product types and each of those product types might require a different shipping cost. If I have to create a shipping class for each of his product types and I have multiple vendors, the number of my shipping classes go grow too big and hard to manage it if Vendors have to change their shipping costs often.

I am looking for a solution that allows me to add additional cost to specific products on top of the shipping cost defined in Shipping classes.

As far as the table rate shipping is concerned, I have looked into it but I am not sure if that would solve the problem.

    Thanks,
    Jalinous

    Hello Jalinous,

In WCMp, as the site admin all, you need to do is enable the Flat Rate/International Flat Rate Shipping methods. The Shipping class is automatically created when vendors add costs in the Shipping section and when they create a product, they only see 1 shipping class with its name being their username.

As far as I understand, the vendors in your shop offer products of multiple types and hence require different Shipping costs. This is the reason why we are developing the bridge between WCMp and Table Rate Shipping. Vendors would still create only 1 Shipping class but it would offer multiple shipping costs based on the table rate conditions defined by them. May I know what concerns you have about this approach.

Finally regarding the additional costs, I don’t think even WooCommerce offers any such option. Our plugin utilises the core of WooCommerce without changing it so such an option would either need to come from WooCommerce author or by customization.

    Hi Sandeep,

Your understanding is correct. Some of my vendors would need to charge different shipping costs for their products depending on the type of the product. E.g. Vendor X could sell product A that would have a shipping cost of $n, product B requiring $m for the shipping, etc.

I am ok with investing in a new solution if I am certain that it would work the way it is advertised. My current solution which I purchased does not deliver what was advertised and I was expecting.

If I understand correctly, the main advantage of the Table Rate Shipping is that it offers more flexibility in terms of different shipping zones.

It would be very helpful if you could setup a demo page with the Table Rate Shipping so the users can see how it works with your plugin.

    Thanks!

    Hello Jalinous,

Thanks for the cooperation. At this point of time, Table Rate Shipping is not compatible, we are still working on that and it would be ready by end of thois month. I would keep you posted.

    Sandeep
