Not polished, bad UX.

  • Right off the bat warns about the MaxMind database missing asking admins to download it instead of starting to do so in the background like the Geo Block IP plugin instead does automatically. If the plugin isn’t ready to use or configure right after install that’s bad practice and bad UX showing little care was placed in designing UX for the plugin.

    Will give it another go and amend the review after that. Thanks for your kind reply

    Hi

    The plugin was removed by WordPress due to the fact that the maxmind databases where auto downloaded.

    It could not be back up on the site untill i removed the auto download.

    That’s truly odd since another plugin does exactly that and is still up… perhaps haven’t been “reported” I guess? Thanks though I appreciate the work on the plugin, sadly there seem to be nothing available that would help site owners control who can or can’t access their site based on geolocation information, nor any that would allow (even on a small fee) to comply with the increasingly nonsensical restrictions and compliance rules which are being unloaded on the end users (site owners) even for what’s related to server logs or plugin-related collected data.

    For the time being as it has become more headaches than it’s worth, I’ve deactivated the plugin and left the site as is since it’s a simple portfolio with no collection of any user data (and those which are gathered by the server or plugins should be not the responsibility of a site’s owner. Thanks again for making this plugin available to the community, regardless of my rating/perception of its usabilty/UX ??
