Hi, I have installed word fence for 2fA and I have an authy.

Then, I logged out and tried to logging, a text appear indicating to insert the code when inside the website but access does not start. It’s the form? I don’t know.

What is important is that I have gone on my plesk, I have added “deactivated” before name of the directory and now, trying to login, the form writes that there is problem.

Then I have tried to find the EXACT PROCEDURE to uninstall the plugin accessing to files and it’s no written anywhere.

So, I don’t understand your way to work.

If the plugin is only for skilled engineer you MUST indicate it VERY CLEARLY in the installation.

Now I have a presentation and I don’t know to access to the website for your lack of information.

It’s really incredible and something for my lawyer to analyze.

I’m about to write to Worpdress.org to ask for removing your plugin for your mesleading information that is only a problem for the middle skilled webmaster as most of us are here.

    Giuseppe

  • I had this same issue yesterday, for bout 6 hours. I tried everything to fix (uninstall, etc), but nothing worked.

Then, in the evening, it fixed itself. I immediately disabled TFA.

    I don’t know what happened.

    Hi @giuseppe2016,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I’m sorry to hear that you were unable to access your site.

If 2FA is still not working, please follow the steps below:

    • Please use FTP/SFTP — or any file manager your web host provides via their administration panel.
    • Look inside the /wp-content/plugins/ directory and rename the wordfence directory to wordfence.bak. This will deactivate Wordfence and allow you to log in without the 2FA code.
    • Once you have logged in to your WordPress admin you can name the folder back to wordfence again.
    • Go to your user profile and add 2FA back to your account. You can consider using a different Authenticator app like Google Authenticator or any of the apps listed in our article on Two-factor authentication.

If you would like to remove Wordfence from your site, please follow the steps detailed in our article on Removing or resetting Wordfence.

Let me know in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks,
    Janet
