    Hi
Can’t understand why it is not possible to block certain IPs

I got this message in the live traffic :

Boardman, Oregon, United States visited https://intra.amoddou.org/login/
    04/12/2022 14:22:58 (1 day 17 hours ago)
    IP: 54.191.137.17 Hostname: ec2-54-191-137-17.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/106.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

Means somebody is trying to login. But when i want to block the ip i get a message saying that this IP is reliable. So why does it try to login ?

How can I block it ?

    Thanks for your answers

  • Can you post a screenshot of the message you see? I was able to block it on one of our test suites with no errors. I used the Wordfence > Firewall > Blocking page.

    Hi Mia

I don’t konw how to post a screenshot on this forum

I used Worfence -> Firewall -> blocking for IP 54.191.137.17 and I get a popup showing this :
“The IP address 54.191.137.17 is in a range of IP addresses that Wordfence does not block. The IP range may be internal or belong to a service safe to allow access for”

    Thanks for your reply

    Just got this message:

Boardman, Oregon, United States left https://devintra.amoddou.org/login/ and logged in successfully as “xxxxx”. https://devintra.amoddou.org/wp-login.php

How can it be safe if he logs in sucessfully ?

I apologize for the delayed response. 54.191.137.17 belongs to ManageWP and is allowed if you have ManageWP checked in the Advanced Firewall Options > Allowlisted Services section of the Wordfence > Firewall > All Firewall Options page on your website. After you save the changes I believe you can remove that. If you use ManageWP you should not do this.
