Not Ready for Prime Time
-
This plugin has a lot of potential, but has some issues
PROS:
– The gallery layouts look very nice, and work well with mixed size images. There is a difficulty with the grid spacing in the top and bottom of images, but it’s not bad.
– The balance between the “free” and “paid” versions is pretty good. It isn’t restricted to the point it’s unusable, as so many of these freemium plugins do.CONS:
– Inserts advertising into every gallery
– The plugin pages in WordPress do not work in IE11, and there’s no indication it’s not working. Not having crossbrowser support isn’t really acceptable in 2014.
– Adding images to galleries is confusing. First, you click a button that says “Add Images” and import them from your WP Media folder. Then, you click the other button that also says “Add Images” to attach them to the gallery. The import step seems pointless, but it’s doing something in the back end since it takes a long time.
– The biggest problem, however, is that sometimes the gallery shows up, and sometimes you get a blank page or a partial page. When it does work, it’s painfully slow.I spent a lot of time with the plugin today, and I really want to use it. Ultimately, though, I can’t go with something that isn’t reliable or is this slow.
