Considering switching from my current form builder to Forminator. A form I imported does not generate an admin email when submitted.

Looked through this forum and, following steps mentioned in several threads, I installed Post-SMTP. The test email was sent and received without an issue.

I then used a template to create a simple “contact us” form. I tried to submit it twice. Both times it was not received.

The logs from Post-SMIP show all three attempts as successful. When I go to look at the transcripts, the test email and one of the form attempts generate and “undefined” error. The other form attempt gives this: smtp:none:none://localhost:25

What do I need to do to next?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @sewmagic

I hope you are doing well today.

It seem your SMTP configuration is incorrect. Are you able to double check with your email provider what are your SMTP ports?

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Thanks for your response..

I was thinking it might have something to do with the SMTP, but I tried sending a simple form from the other form-builder. (Contact From 7). It took about 2 and a half hours to be received, but it did finally come through. So now I don’t know if it is an SMTP issue, or something else.

Looking forward to your input on this!

    Hi @sewmagic

    Thank you for response!

Such a delay is always related to mailing system on server – may it be (and usually is) on a sending and or receiving end. It’s due to mailing queues (because of the way messages are processed on server), spam filtering and so on.

But this and the transcript you got in SMTP plugin makes me wonder if have actually configured SMTP.

What I mean is that installing Post SMTP plugin doesn’t automatically mean using SMTP. This plugin will by default “mimic” regular WordPress e-mail sending mechanisms, it will just use standard PHP “mail” function via PHP Mailer library and that’s it – it won’t “on its own” use SMTP.

For it to use SMTP you would need to go to “Post SMTP -> Settings” page, change “Type” setting there to Gmail API if you are using Gmail or to “Other SMTP” and then configure necessary SMTP credentials there.

    Did you do this?

    Kind regards,
    Adam

I reached out to the person who handles the hosting. The problem had to do with the entry in the “From” email address. I have now been able to send and receive a test email.

    Thanks for your responses.
