Hi, do not know since which update, but in my case Lightstart do not respect user Roles from settings to access backend. Everyone besides Admin gets forwarded to the frontend when logging in.

edit: now it′s even getting stranger. The admin Bar is shown in frontend but logged in users still can′t access backend.

Edit2: ok, i′m out of my depth now. Even when lightstart is deactivated and the caching plugin which formerly was just switched off is deactivated too, still the problem persists. I also tried another browser, freshly deleted the cache just to be sure.

I presume, there must be another problem on my staging site. Or is lightstart leaving any information in any file that could explain that behavior? If so, please let me know which file(s) i can inspect. Thank you.

    Hi @holle75,

Thank you for using LightStart, and I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties encountered.

I tried to replicate the issue and wasn’t able. Can you please share a screenshot(an example here) of how did you configure the user roles in the Dashboard?

    Regards,
    Stefan

Hi Stefan, please see attached images from Backend settings and Frontend. User hD is “author”. He can′t connect to the backend but Admin Bar is shown in the frontend. This happens to all permitted user roles besides Admin.

    Hi @holle75,

Thank you for sharing the screenshots. Are you currently using the latest version of the plugin? I’m asking as I see a dashboard notice to update a plugin in your first screenshot.

lightstart is 2.6.2. The update message you see in the screenshot is from another plugin.

    Hi @holle75,

Thank you for the confirmation. But you also said that even with plugin disabled the same behavior remains which indicates there is some caching more than plugin’s issue (most likely). Maybe there is also some caching that your hosting has (not a plugin) that could be reason for this issue?

Please check with them as it could be happening because of server level caching that some hosting providers have for websites.

Vytis, Hi, i thought so too, but there is no caching from the server side in any way. Could somebody give me a hint in which file the actual redirection/blocking is happening? I′m just curious. It′s a staging site, so the harm is minimal, but i′m also using lightstart on the live page (sometimes when maintenance) and would not like to run into similar problems.

Edit: Wasn′t keen to go through the process of deactivating all plugins to see if there are some incompatibilities. But i did. It′s Geodirectories which creates this strange behavior. It seems i did steal your time for nothing. I′m sorry guys!

Edit2: and even worse it was my misconfiguration in GD. Alas to say that this functionality in Geodirectories (which i thought only means Access to GD Settings and not the whole Backend) makes no sense to me.
