• I uploaded an image to my web site: big.jpg
The image shows up in the media library. It is 2000×852 pixels. It is 5.6 MB.
When I ran gtmetrix.com on this web site, the feedback was that I should serve this image as a scaled image, since the website only needs to display it as 200×85. So I edited the image using the WordPress image editor. I scaled it down to 200×85. I then checked the uploads folder, and the new image is there. It is called big-e148312515799.jpg. The original image big.jpg is also there. The WordPress media library still shows one file, now with a size of 200×85.

When I run GTmetrix.com, it is still reporting that the original big.jpg is being served by WordPress. This is also confirmed by running the Google Chrome developer tools by hitting F12 in the Google Chrome browser.

Remove the image from your post and re-add it. That should get the new image.

But, repeat after me…. WordPress is not an image editing tool. Upload images in the size you need.

Thanks for the guidance. I am going to redo the site in Beaver Builder. Right now it is in Divi, and I am scared to touch it, even to do what you suggest.
