Someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. I am using 2 different themes and this does not work on the signup page. There is no verification.

It works on the login page but that is not needed. Only in the sign up page.

    Thanks.

    Hey @travbacon,

could I please get a screenshot of the plugin’s settings panel?

    (@travbacon)

It’s simple. You enter your keys you already got from google’s recaptcha and select your settings

Enable reCaptcha on: Login Screen Register Screen Comment Form Recover Password Form

REGISTER SCREEN WAS CHECKED. LOGIN, COMMENT AND RECOVER WAS NOT BECAUSE THAT IS NOT NEEDED FOR THOSE SCREENS

I did test this by checking the LOGIN and it works.

    (@cristianraiber-1)

So you’ve managed to get it working then?

    Thread Starter travbacon

    (@travbacon)

No I have not. As stated. I checked to see if it worked for the other pages. It works for LOGIN NOT SIGN UP.

I have removed this and urge everyone else also. I do not care if the plugin is free. You chose to create this for free and should support it just as if it was paid for. If you plan on selling premium features, forget it. If you refuse to show quick support for the free plugin, no one is going to buy the premium features.

    Hi @travbacon,

I’m really sorry you feel that way. We allocated a lot of time & effort to create this plugin and we’re doing our best to support it. Unfortunately, we can’t offer the same levels of supports as a paid product could/would.

There are no current or future plans to add paid features to this plugins as it’s delivered as is.

    Thank you,
    Cristian.

It only took you 1 week to reply. If you are not going to offer the same support as the free plugin, you can’t truly expect me to want to buy the premium version if I cannot get the free version working.

I think you need to reevaluate how you handle your “free” support. I would never buy any product from a company with this kind of support.

I urge everyone else to follow this path and not buy the premium version if there is lack of support for the free version just because it’s “free”.

Isn’t that the whole purpose of your business model? Offer a “free” version to entice us to buy the “premium” version?

Well if we cannot get it working and you don’t want to offer quick support for it, we will move. And that is what I have done. I found a free version from another plugin vendor here that is truly totally free and it works perfectly.

So you lost out on a sale.

@travbacon – see my answer above.

We have never had the intention of selling a PRO version of this plugin.

You have to understand that plugin incompatibilities/problems can show up based on numerous factors. Your hosting company’s PHP version, a different server configuration than the bunch we tested against, maybe a clash between another plugin you have installed.

Heck, I’ve seen seen themes add code they shouldn’t have that was causing problems with plugins.

The takeaway here is this: our plugin was offered freely and without the promise of immediate support. As per your statement: “You chose to create this for free and should support it just as if it was paid for” – please allow me to clear the air – supporting this plugin is a choice, not an obligation. This is the open-source world and we do our best to support our products (free or paid) as best as we can. Of course, the paid ones get most of the attention as those produce an income.

I’m really happy to hear you’ve found a better alternative and I hope you’ll be happy with your pick.

    All the best,
    Cristian.

So you are saying you put this plugin out out of the goodness of your heart? I doubt it. You’re here to offer free stuff in order for people to see what other stuff you have and that maybe for sale.

I support open source especially at sourceforge and when there is a problem, the developer is on it.

And yes, this was tested on a fully updated private server and a clean slate wordpress was installed and tested with the plugin only.

@travbacon – you are free to believe what you like. As there are absolutely NO UPSELLS in the version of this plugin, and no one is pushing a PRO version for it, I don’t see why you wouldn’t believe me it’s “out of the goodness of my heart”.

Well here is a prime example of a developer on there. They have had a theme out for a while. It is a free theme. I found 2 bugs, emailed them screen shots. Even though it’s free, they personally replied back when they didn’t have to. Fixed it.

    That’s how it works.

    You’re here to sell something.

    Plugin Contributor Cristian Raiber

    (@cristianraiber-1)

@travbacon – I see your point. However, you didn’t email me – plus, screenshots were missing from your ticket. You posted a question on the forums, absolutely no screenshots involved.

Just FYI – the www.ads-software.com forums don’t have a way of notifying original developers / admins that a new ticket has been posted. I manually check the forums once in awhile.

I’m here to sell stuff, sure. Not this product in particular though.

I’m honestly really glad this conversation is moving forward. It’s been a great learning experience for me and I’ve learned so much more about the expectations of the open-source ecosystem. While I don’t wholeheartedly agree with them, it’s surely food for thought.

Thank you for taking your time to reply to all my (probably ridiculous) replies here @travbacon. I genuinely appreciate it.

P.S: It almost slipped my mind, but keep in mind – I’m not here to sell this product. Other products – sure. No this one though.
P.P.S If you ever, by mistake, use any of our products – feel free to email me with any questions you might have. You might be surprised as to how fast emails get handled.
P.P.P.S: After I’ve replied once to a ticket on the www.ads-software.com forums, I get automatically subscribed for email notifications. In case you were wondering how I’m able to reply so quickly now. This is not a choice, but something that bbPress 2.x automatically does for plugin owners.
