    Hi Mika,

    First of all: this is a wonderful plugin. I am using it a couple of years now and it’s truly magnificent. Thank your for that.

    I got one problem though… the quicktags are not shown to my guests. I checked my page source: there is not a single quicktags reference in any way to find. So no Javascript, no HTML: nothing. When I log in, however, I can see the buttons and the Javascript, so it works…

    My question is: how is this possible?

    I have to say: I upgraded to WordPress 4.4 (from 4.1). Has that anything to do with it?

    I checked on three of my sites, logged out, and they all show the buttons properly. You probably have a plugin conflicting, or a theme.

    You can try using https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors to figure out where the errors are.

    Thanks for the swift response, Mika.

    I enabled all debug scripts, but it doesn’t point me anywhere. It gave a notice of ssl_login being depracated, but that’s it. Nothing with quicktags, whatsoever. I am pretty sure that it has something to do with one of my plugins, but I can’t get what precisely.

    Are you running WordPress 4.4 as well?

    PS: I disabled Autoptimizer cache plugin, but still the same… I thought that it prevented it or something, but nope.

    I don’t get it.

    Of course I’m running 4.4 ?? I tested on 4.4 before it came out, too.

    The best test is to turn off all other plugins… which sucks :/

    Haha of course you are.

    Anyhow, is there a chance that it might be the Autoptimizer plugin? I am minifying, defering scripts, so maybe it is affected by it?

    I will check it tomorrow. Will provide the solution here when I find it.

    hiya 1BJK903;
    I’m Autoptimize’s developer. When looking at Basic Comment Quicktags source code, I’d say it could be due to Autoptimize but on the other hand you also wrote you disabled Autoptimize and still had the same problem, no?

    Anyway, if the problem turns out to be Autoptimize, you could fix that by going to the AO settings-page and adding jquery.js, quicktags.min.js, quicktags.js to the list of JS optimization exclusions.

    hope this helps,
    frank

    Hi Frank,

    Even when I exclude those, I don’t see the Javascript containing Quicktags, while it appears when logged in. And yes, I tried to disable your plugin, still the same.

    Your plugin is a nice btw, I have to say that. Top werk, dank daarvoor.

    The JS files that are missing when not logged in, are:
    basic-comment-quicktags/quicktags.js?ver=3.1
    wp-includes/js/quicktags.min.js?ver=4.4

    And the inline JS:
    <script type=’text/javascript’>/* */
    var quicktagsL10n = {“closeAllOpenTags….. </script>

    well, that indeed confirms the problem is not with autoptimize.

    fijne feesten!

    Solved it..

    It was Autoptimize… haha. I excluded quicktags and the quicktags min JS, but removed jQuery from exclusion and it suddenly worked.

    Thank you guys, I appreciate the help.

    Weer wat geleerd. Fijne feestdagen!
