The quicktag bar show fine when a user is logged in but not at all if they are not logged in on my site.

I switched themes to twenty twelve and there’s no difference. Is this how they are supposed to work or could it be a plugin causing the issue?

I am using Jetpack just for wpstats and subscriptions, and several other plugins like easy digital downloads, Super Cache, bbPress and Mashshare share buttons.

I know it works with Jetpack, EDD and bbPress.

This would be the time to test with as many plugins off as possible, though. Also check if the JS is loading by looking at the page source.

Yeah, it was this plugin causing the issue https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/stop-spammer-registrations-plugin/ it’s working fine after disabling it.
It might add something to the comment form when not logged in that conflicts with your plugin.

Looking at the code, it looks like Stop Spammers is making a hidden version of the comment form, and since the BCQ is so simple, assuming only one, it’s adding the JS to the wrong form.

*ponder* I wonder how to fix that…

You can uncheck “red herring” form on the options page. The red herring form should be invisible, so only spam robots will see it. I breaks some themes, though. I have removed it from the the version I am working on because it doesn’t catch that many spammers.

I don’t know why JS is loading. It isn’t mine. Perhaps a plugin is hooking the login form and loading their own js and the hidden form is loading it too.

I’d have to spend more time than I had today checking. BCQ looks for the comment form to hook into, so I can see it getting confused if there were two.
