• This plugin claims to be a simpler alternative to frontend user registration, but the instructions are convoluted, their FAQ page is literally blank, and their installation documents lead to a 404 page. This plugin was incredibly frustrating from the dashboard side, and the interface to create your registration form is very unclear. Apparently you need to create fields in the account form before they can be used in the registration form. The interface didn’t allow me to do this, and it’s not clear why this isn’t done for me or explained properly. I am surprised the plugin has the reviews it has, what a waste of an hour trying to get this to work and navigating empty support pages from the developer. Disappointing.

I’m sorry for the lack of documentation.

However our install docs don’t go to a 404 page:
    https://userswp.io/docs/userswp-overview/
    https://userswp.io/docs/basic-installation/

As far as creating the registration form is very easy and basically self explanatory (at least it has been for the +1k users before you).

You have 2 tabs in the form builder:

    1 account
    2 register

One is the form to update your account when logged in, the second is the registration form.

You add any fields you want to the account form and at the bottom of the fields settings you have 2 options:

1 Include this field in register form
2 Include this field ONLY in register form

We did it this way, because registration should be easy and quick (possibly ask only for eamil, username and password) and you can give user the option to complete their profile later via the edit account form.

Or you can ask for an info during registration only and you don’t let it change later.

    Basically it is very flexible…

On the other hand, please allow me to ask 1 question. Why would you spend 1 hour getting frustrated rather than asking for support for a free product?

That baffles me all the time.

In any case thanks for your feedback, it’ll force us to work on better docs.
