I have run P3 (Plugin performance profiler) and it shows that your plugin (Social media feather) is the heaviest plugin of all. I user about 20 plugins, but your plugin eats half of the running time of all other plugins, which include gallery and some other not-so-light plugins.
Do you have any idea why your plugin eats half of the running time of all my plugins? I only have 3 buttons for sharing and 2 for following, not much. Thank you in advance for your support.

I did some more measurements. WordPress SEO and WP Lightbox 2 consume about 0.15 second on my server, while Social media feather takes up to 1 second even!
There is something seriously wrong with this plugin and calling it “lightweight” is just a lie ??

P3 is not a reliable measure for performance, you’re much better off using something like pingdom, as that measures the loading time in the *exact* same way as your users are experiencing.

There’s been already reports in the past about P3 showing similar results and the user himself concluded those results were inconclusive after testing more thoroughly while having the SMF plugin active/inactive.

I did actually noticed much higher page load time with the plugin than without it. It was well visible, but it might be biased ??

I will try to add some numbers to that and will reopen the thread if I have them.

I actually did some measurements using GTmetrix. With the plugin active the average load time on several tests was 4.1 sec. After deactivating the plugin and clearing cache plugin’s cache the average page load was 3.3 sec. Then I activated the plugin again and the page load time was higher, often above 4 seconds, averaging again close to 4.1 sec.

This plugin is not lightweight, it certainly does too many DB queries on every run.

You have to keep in mind that when the plugin is active you’re loading the images for the sharing/following buttons, and those explain the extra 0.7s. The plugin only has 1 DB query to retrieve its options and then for the Post meta (which is generally pre-loaded by WordPress anyway).

Well, it visibly increases my page load time and I’m not so much convinced it is only because of the buttons. It is still the best sharing plugin though, so I keep using it, despite this small imperfectness.
Thanks for the plugin and your support.
