    Hi,

I’m working with an Arabic language site that is using Yoast SEO version 18.

When I use the url inspector in Google Search Console, every post is reported as ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’.

However, each post is submitted in a (yoast) sitemap, and the Search Console reports the sitemap is being crawled successfully.

If the sitemap is being crawled successfully, why is Search Console saying the url hasn’t been submitted in a sitemap?

Could it be because Google is indexing it as a Arabic language url, but it’s encoded(or would that be decoded?) as utf-8 in the Yoast sitemap? (screenshot: https://andrews.com/temp.png ). Could that mismatch be causing the problem?

Do you have any experience with this, and explanation, or solution for fixing it?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi @christopheran

If the URL is reported as ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’, then that shouldn’t necessarily be a cause for concern.

According to Google’s index coverage report:

Indexed, not submitted in sitemap: The URL was discovered by Google and indexed. We recommend submitting all important URLs using a sitemap.

This means it’s a valid URL and it’s indexed, but it was discovered by some other means (maybe a link from another page) and not necessarily from the sitemap. But since you’ve checked and confirmed that it is also in the Yoast SEO sitemap, that’s good as well. There’s no need to make any other changes.
