You don’t need to install WordPress locally to use it. In most cases it just adds to confusion on what and where everything is.

WordPress is meant to be installed on a web hosting server so that it can be served out to the internet. Installing it on your PC there will leave it available to only your PC or local network – unless you know enough about DNS and servers to enable it to be set up as a public server.

To install WordPress on a hosting server, follow these instructions:

Do this if you got the following error when running WAMP

Error Message – “MSVCR100.dll’ is missing….”

1. Uninstall WAMP and restart your machine
2. Download the following packages (You will need both x86 and x64 packages for WAMP to work)

3. Install all the packages (x86 and x64) you have downloaded and reboot. Note: 2012 to 2015 allow you to download both packages at the same time. Reason why I haven’t included the links separately.
4. Install WAMP in it’s default directory.

I have built websites before using WYSIWYG software installed on a PC, then uploaded all to a server via FTP to go live. But I am almost entirely new to WordPress, and I think catacaustic has just confirmed what I suspect is its main difference: It’s installed directly on the remote server. I see a lot of hosting services are offering it pre-installed and set up already so you can build your site online while logged in to your back office/dashboard.
My remaining question on this topic: If you download WP and install yourself via FTP, is the sitebuilding done on the PC and then files uploaded to the server?

It is possible to set up a local server using XAMPP and installing WordPress there. However if you are a beginner this most likely will confuse you even more so I would not recommend this.

Unlike a pure HTML-Site you will not only need webspace but a webhoster which offers a PHP-Server and a MySQL-Database.

i better recommend you using mamap software for local wordpress installation as it never creates any error or something bullshit.i am using it since years for my local developement so use it for your personal usage also.get mamp and start developing your things locally. Reply if it helps.
