Not sure if i have the process of this plugin correct?

Hi guys, just trying to get my head around this plugin. Presumably i just install this plugin, and when i update any LESS files within my site it should auto-compile to css?

I am using Roots theme, and WP Editor to edit my LESS file, but nothing appears to be happening. I am editing the file through the admin section of my WordPress installation.

Not sure if Roots isn’t compatible with this plugin (does it need LESS to be in a certain place?) or whether I’m just doing something wrong.
