Not sure it’s passing pages Titles correctly on GA4

    Hi, using GA4 with all options enabled – do not use any other Google ANalytics plugin.

    Whilst on GA 4 I only see users on pages, but no Visits, so for example:
    Page | Visits | Users
    About | 0 | 12
    Home | 0 | 11

    Is this correct?

    It happens to us as well using GA4.

    All others events are being tracked (view_item_list, user_engagement, scroll, click, first_visit, session_start`) but page views are NOT being tracked.

    Moreover, the plugin inserts this line twice in the source code

    Are these views from you (the admin)?

    Please note that page views from admins are not counted as mentioned in the documentation: https://woocommerce.com/document/google-analytics-integration/#testing-analytics

    No. Standard user page views (not logged users) are not counted.

    Digging into the official GA4 documentation:

    https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/ga4/views?technology=websites

    If you don’t want gtag.js to send a pageview, set the send_page_view parameter to false.

    That’s probably the reason our page views are not counted in GA4 (they are counted in GA3 because the plugin does not insert that code if the property is of UA-xxxxx type instead of G-xxxxx or GT-xxxxx type)

    I hope this annoyoing bug will be fixed soon.

    In the meantime, I found a workaround that worekd for me.

    In this file:

    wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/packages/woocommerce-blocks/src/Domain/Services/GoogleAnalytics.php

    Change Line 77 from
    gtag('config', '" . esc_js( $settings['ga_id'] ) . "', { 'send_page_view': false });"
    to:
    gtag('config', '" . esc_js( $settings['ga_id'] ) . "', { 'send_page_view': true });"

    Kindly note that the { 'send_page_view': false } does not necessarily mean that page views are not tracked. This only means that the plugin doesn’t track pages automatically (automatically firing the tracking of the page by sending the browser title and the URL).

    In our case it’s as simple as that:

    With { 'send_page_view': false } pages NOT being tracked in GA4
    With { 'send_page_view': true } page ARE being tracked in GA4

    Has this been fixed yet?

    I don’t really want to be changing the plugin code after every update.

    Sorry to pile on here but this does seem like an easy fix for an issue which was a real head-scratcher for me in the past months. Maybe add a tick-box on the settings page to allow users to change this?
