    Hello people.

    I have an external link that shows up on my page and I can’t figure out where it is coming from.

    Its a Payday loans Connecticut link in my header menu area. It only shows up on the blog page. This is the link to the blog page and you can see the link on the left of the menu.

    Any ideas? Thank You.

    @esicairos: Thanks for helping out, but please do not ask people to give you admin or FTP details. That’s just going too far.

    Plus I am just looking for ideas on what particular files to peek at. I can remove a line of code, I just need to locate it.

    Inside here:

    <div id="wp_cd_code">
    <style>.dc71774{display:block;position:absolute;width:100%;top:-500px;height:100px;overflow:hidden;z-index:9999}</style>
    <div class="dc71774">
    <p><a href="https://www.paydayloansintheusa.com/CT">payday loans connecticut</a></p>
    </div>
    </div>

    I had seen that when I inspected the line in chrome. Unfortunately I can’t find it. I wonder if there is a program that can search all of my files for me.

    I am trying String Locator at the moment.

    I ended up finding the code in the SQL of the particular post. I removed it from the content of the SQL and saved it.

    The link is gone and I have re installed wordpress. class-wp.php looks like it was corrupted. Lots of weird code or something.

    I have created a test post to see if it returned. It did not. Not yet at least.

    In the future, if you run into the same issue (hopefully not), you can download all of your files from hosting to your local hard drive and then use some kind of Grep program (for your OS) to search for any piece of string you want. And of course if it is not in the files, it is in the database. You can search through (unpacked) database after downloading it with pretty much anything but free Notepad++ is one nice program.

    BTW, could you mark the thread as resolved?
