Hi all – please excuse me as I am a newbie and very inexperienced. I received the email about the new BETA 2.0.55 available. Have done a full back up my website following the excellent instructions provided by Nextgen but not familiar using FTP – only used it today with Filezilla for the first time as part of my backup! The message says “You should only update to the beta version if you are comfortable manually updating and managing your site via https://FTP.” If I’m not comfortable doing this will I risk problems down the track and/or is there another option? Or should I just try to manage it? Look forward to your advice…thanks!

@camcreations27 The other option is to wait until the stable version is released, in this case you’ll see the message in the dashboard and you’ll be able to upgrade from there.
Anyway sooner or later you’ll have to learn to use FTP, that’s important for managing the website on a standalone installation.
For now, if you’re not familiar with it, it’s better for you to wait, not because managing FTP is difficult, but because any beta version could be a risk.

PS: I’m curios, did you really receive an email about the beta available?

hey thanks so much for your advice! I will wait for the stable version to come up on my dashboard then! Yes the message came through NextGEN Gallery probably as I subscribe – subject “Grab the latest NextGEN Gallery beta today”. Thanks again for your help ??
