• i was able to get this plugin to function for me despite the documentation in the free download giving instructions for features only available the paid version.

when i asked support about these missing features (behavior & conditionals) and several questions indicating i might want to purchase the full version, i got no real answers, except that those features detailed in the free version help docs are not available without purchase.

things i don’t like about the free version:
    – the UI is wonky and looks like there’s something missing, popups attach weirdly to browser top edge and don’t stay associated with the item being edited
    – the add to cart button on product archive does not trigger the configurator, only clicking the title of the product does.
    – there is no way to put a ‘blank’ image in for the base image of the product
    – the product price is carried through to the configurator but not the product name.
    – a composite image of the final product built does not appear in the cart
    – disappointing first support contact as enumerated above

i likely won’t bother with the paid version right away based on this experience.

    Hello @emilysparkle,
I’m so sorry that we made you feel that way. The end of the year period is crazy busy for us and we sometimes make mistakes like these. I sincerely apologize for that.

    – the UI is wonky and looks like there’s something missing, popups attach weirdly to browser top edge and don’t stay associated with the item being edited: these are probably a css conflict with the theme. If you want we can take a look and provide css codes to help you fix these.
    – the add to cart button on product archive does not trigger the configurator, only clicking the title of the product does: the plugin does not do that with the title. Instead we have a “build your own button” that shows up for custom products. If the clicking on the title sends you to the customization page, that means something strange is going there. If you want, we can also take a look.

    – there is no way to put a ‘blank’ image in for the base image of the product: You can create a single option with that blank image. Because that option is single, the customer won’t be able to change it so the result will be achieved.

    – the product price is carried through to the configurator but not the product name: Yes that’s something we’ll fix in next versions.

    – a composite image of the final product built does not appear in the cart: That’s a premium feature.

    see below for clarity.

    – WONKY UI – the ui issues are in the admin area, i sent a screenshot with my initial questions (that are still unanswered) thru your contact form.

    – ADD TO CART – when i click add to cart in the product catalog, the item is simply added to the cart. this needs to redirect to the configurator on a customizable product, right now a product it is just added with no options selected. when i click the item title or image on the catalog page, i get the expected results and see the option to build my own.

    – BLANK IMAGE – i have a black clothing that people will put our 3-part logo in countless color combos on. i want the customize screen to begin with the blank tee (or hoodie, or bag, whatever they chose on the previous screen) and then begin the customization. i’m not understanding your proposed solution. can you explain further?

i also sent some follow-up questions regarding the purchase confirmation page and email content. it looks wonky and is missing the important information of the choices.

    Happy new year ??

    – WONKY UI: we can help fix that if you allows us

    – ADD TO CART: Can you check if this is set like this https://prnt.sc/qid095 ?

    – BLANK IMAGE: You can create a component with a single option named “Base” for exemple. That single option will have the blank tee or hoodie as you wish. No other option will be needed for that component so it will behave as you want.

    – WONKY UI – yes, you should fix this, the issue is in the admin area, not in my theme. if you want to see the theme, it’s generatepress pro.

    – ADD TO CART – yes, that’s how my settings are

    – BLANK IMAGE – ok, i think i understand, but… to verify your method, i’ll have to create a new configuration for every single type of clothing i offer, tee shirts, tanks, hoodies…. i’ll have to add and maintain a configuration for each one, instead of just having one configuration for all the logo options. correct?

    – EMAIL/CONFIRMATION PAGE CONTENT – this convo is happening in email right now. looking to make sure options are readable in the email sent to the client and to the fullfillment team.

    – WONKY UI – Ok we’ll fix that soon.

    – ADD TO CART – Ok.

    – BLANK IMAGE – That depends on what the customer can change on each product. You can setup one configuration and use it on all products if you setup in that config, the product type as one of the options. And maybe use the conditional rules (in the pro version) to make some options available or not depending on the customer choices.

    – EMAIL/CONFIRMATION PAGE CONTENT – Ok
