  • I updated Yoast to the very latest version and now also have what thomas007 says: nowhere to edit the snippet, add keywords. In fact for the post I’m working on I already had done some of that and it’s all disappeared. I’ve gone through the wizard thing again and the response is I have no problem. I logged out and back in. I deactivated and reactivated. What now? I don’t want to publish until I have got the SEO.

Yes, I am experiencing the same thing. Hope an update comes out soon to fix this issue.

Basically my question on the forum the other day: I have been using for years – I updated the plugin today and got this error message:

“the plugin wordpress-seo/wp-seo.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.”

WP Rollback does not work because Yoast is completely gone and when I try to reinstall, I get this error:

“Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.”

    1) What is the solution to this?
    2) Do I loose all my SEO descriptions through the years trying to fix this error of theirs?

Same here … Since the last update just problems with yoast.

Glad to see that I’m not alone to have this problem , hope to have an update quickly

I have the same problem since last week with Yoast SEO 9.2.1, WPML Multilingual CMS 4.0.8 and WordPress 4.9.8. As I understand it, they are aware of the problem but have not released an update to correct the problem, although in my opinion the problem is Yoast SEO because everything worked well until the plugin was updated.

    Hi there,

I have the same issue… also waiting for a solution.

    Kind regards,

There is another thread where a plug-in support person said one could download the earlier version of yoast. I don’t understand whether there’s any risk in that, whether the database of seo going back years will be maintained or anything about wpml or coding. Anyone else able to explain?

    Same here

I am having the same issue. No option to edit title or add meta description.

Don’t know who is crazy, WordPress, Me, or Yoast, but something strange happened. I tried deactivating plugins that I recently updated and rechecked if it fixed the issue. However, on the contrary it even broke the admin panel. Then I deactivated all the plugins to find the issue and the activated Yoast SEO. It still didn’t fix it. Finally, I cleared the All the cache and cookies of the browser, and it fixed the issue.

Then I tried activating all the plugins one by one to see which of then caused Yoast not to work, and I ended up activating all the plugins that I had activated earlier, and Yoast is now working fine.

So what actually I did to make Yoast to work: Damn! I dunno. Did clearing chache work? Sound so, but no idea what the heck just happened.

I am glad that it came back to normal whatever the bug was.

If you use WPML, there’s currently a reported bug between Yoast SEO 9.2.x and WPML. A fix for this issue has been made by WPML and is available in their beta. You can find more information on how to get access to the WPML beta here: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-install-beta-and-development-versions-of-wpml/

If you do not use WPML and are not the person that opened this topic, please open a new request. That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance. Thanks!

thomas007: If you do not use WPML, the Yoast SEO meta box relies on JavaScript to perform all its tasks. If JavaScript is disabled, blocked or detects a conflict, you may see a blank or semi-blank box.

Please try the suggestions here: Yoast SEO meta box is blank

Ok, I found a solution for my problem:

I just installed the gutenberg-editor and now it works fine with WPML.

@mike666 The conflict between the current version of Yoast and WPML can be resolved by installing the Gutenberg editor, since this only affects the Classic editor.
