    If the issue1-5.html file exists on the server (and from what I see it does) then it’s not possible to redirect it via WP (or a WP plugin to be precise) because the server returns the file before ever getting to WP. It simply just returns the file content without processing any PHP, WP, or plugins …

    The simplest way around this is to delete or rename the file. That way WP will process it, find the redirect rule you created, and redirect.

    Would it be possible to write a manual .htaccess file and do this redirection without deleting the files? Or what if I copied them all over to a subdirectory? Would that solve the problem without deleting them altogether?
