So you want to never use HTTPS? If you don’t link to any of your pages using HTTPS then it’s unlikely that a user will ever visit an HTTPS page. There are also better ways to always redirect HTTPS to HTTP, like rewrite rules in your .htaccess file.

I just wanted to stop by and see if there was any resolution to this other than hacking the .htaccess file (which I did and it failed to do what I wanted it to do). Our site was internal for a very long time and we had a front-end and back-end. Due to unforeseen network issues, they asked me to develop a front-end and host it elsewhere but because it’s all public facing, there is no need for an SSL connection any longer. However, Google and other search engines have cached the HTTPS and it’s causing major issues. I’d rather not have to go back to the SSL for the sake of going to SSL and I’m hoping that this plug-in could do it for me, however, I am experiencing the same as others. I’ve installed it and I do not need any exceptions and it still is showing the “unsecure” website when going to https. Any assistance is appreciated.

If you don’t have a valid SSL certificate setup, users will still see the browser warning, because the browser creates that before WordPress ever loads. There’s no plugin that can solve that, you have to setup a valid SSL certificate. A redirect at the nginx/Apache level might work too, but I haven’t tested that.
