Not working after latest Adobe CC update
-
Hi. I uploaded a couple files just fine for testing purposes, but after the latest Adobe CC update, I get a Cannot find main JS edge file /…edgePreload.js..
Adobe support tells me they have removed the Preload file requirement with the latest EA update.

Hi Everyone,
Working with Timm we have found a possible workaround to this problem and a way to import OAM files into a WP site. This may give you a way to get past work bottlenecks while Timm is building a new plugin.
But be VERY CAREFUL, this is a lightly tested workaround and it uses the non-production version of the Edge Suite plugin, ES5.
If you are still interested, and don’t mind some risk please do the following:
You need to do 2 things:
- In Edge Animate, as part of your animation you need to do two steps:
- Add a preloader (wait cursor) to your Edge Animate animation. This is set as part of the Stage.
- Check the box for “Publish preload DOM as separate file” under Web Publish settings.
- Use the newest version of the plugin, ES5. And to reiterate Timm’s note, “DON’T EVEN TRY TO USE THIS IN PRODUCTION! ” so use with caution. You can get ES5 here:
https://github.com/ti2m/edge-suite-wp/tree/ea5
If this workaround works for you, great. Please let us all know.
If it doesn’t work, let us know what the problems are that you are running into.
I am using this on a test site I have set up. As the test site is a work in progress for an actual client, and the working HTML equivalent is clearly marked with client name and branding, I would prefer to not publish that information here. Please contact me directly, and I will provide you with the links to my live WP installation as well as the plain HTML files generated by Edge.
Thanks for this plugin, it looks promising!
Hi cydsmith,
I saw your second post in the other Edge Suite thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/edge-suite-not-working-after-edge-animate-upgrade-1 and responded over there.
Thanks,
~ PacWebI have just committed an update to the dev version of the plugin, you can download it here:
https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/edge-suite.zip
Just replace the old plugin edge suite folder with the new one on your server and then everything should work, hopefully ?? If you don’t know what you are doing maybe wait a bit until a couple of other people confirmed that everything works as supposed to.
Please test and report any issues (open new threads).A really big thank you to @pacweb for all the thorough testing he did, would not have been possible without him and it saved me a great amount of time. At the same time a huge thank you to @shoalinagent for jumping in and helping a great deal in the issue queue. Thanks for the support!
Sorry, but i lost the work-around…
Is it just download the zip and install it
or
must i do also the steps of pacweb?
I’m working with an external company, which has installed the zip on a test-site.
but he is getting warnings of missing jQuery and Edge files???Hi wverveer,
Those errors sound like they are coming from one of the older versions of ES. If you install the Dev version they should go away. If not then there is a bigger problem. But remember, it is a Development version and it is best to thoroughly test your animations on the test-site before trying it on a live site.
One thing to note, if you are going to switch versions of the plugin, you will need to delete the plugin before installing another version. Then you will have to re-import your animation(s) and update the site to use the new composition IDs accordingly.
Let us know how it goes.
~ PacWeboke thanks, we can try this…i let you know
I’m working on a test site and I found an error while uploading an animation:
The file anim_cappa04.oam has been uploaded.
Auto detection of stage dimensions failed: Unable to spot stage variable.
The following libraries have been updated:
edge.5.0.0.min.jsanim_cappa04 was successfully imported.
The only problem is that one of the shapes is invisible in WP.
Have I done something wrong?
Hi federaicor,
Is it possible for you to share a link where we can look at the animation?
Also, can you tell us which shape is missing? Thanks,
~ PacWebI’m having the upload issue like many here, ie the plugin won’t work due to change made to Edge 2014 and gives the ‘can’t find js’ file error.
So my quick solution was to go download the Edge Animate version (3.0) and republish the OAM files using that.
If you have a standard CC sub you just need to login into your creative cloud via the web site and it provides the option to download older versions.
Obviously this won’t work if you rely on the newer CC 2014 feature set for your animation but in my case I’m preparing a showcase of older work so it’s perfect.
Hope that helps.
Hi manic.insomnia,
Have you tried a newer version of the ES plugin, especially the dev version?
That version corrected the missing JS file issue.~ PacWeb
Hi, I tried your dev.plugin version.
https://burgerking-kz.com/order/about/
here is the link.
The composition is showing but the animation is not working on my site. And it is not loading json data, button not working. For my Edge animate i was using – jquery-2.0.3.min.js, possibly that is the problem? I can swap it for that working one, just tell me.
I also tried to use jQuery NoConflict mode, it is not helping.
I sent all the project file to Timm in case, he needs them for testing.Replacing the plug with this new zip extract in “wp-content\plugins\edge-suite” worked for me.
Thanks a lot Tim and others who helped him to fix this issue. And great plugin btw.
We haven’t resolved all related EA5 issues yet, there are some minor things left, therefore I’m not pushing a new release yet. Im’ closing this issue though as no one can keep track here anymore. The basic integration of compositions into a page works. If you run into any issues please open a new thread.
Thanks for the feedback here and again a special thank you to @pacweb for helping in the issue queue.
Hi everybody!
As edge suite is not working with the last Edge update. I’ve tried to upload the edge animate animation in header.php file directly and it worked. The problem is that only works fine in the homepage.
Basically what I’ve did was copy the .html file and paste it into header.php (scripts links, styles, div “Stage”…)
Then I pasted the edge.js file in the header.php directory (root) and the animation turns up!
Nevertheless, when you go to another page (clicking nav bar), the animation fails because wordpress is looking for the edge.js file in the new path (/newpage) and this file doesn`t exists.I think that If i could avoid the headers reload when you go to another page.. or change the main edge file to another directory.
Somebody has tried it before?
Sorry for my english.
