After the latest plugin update I have tried the following:

    * Updated plugin on two different sites.
    * One works, one doesn’t.
    * They both were working prior to the update, now only one works.
    * Compared the link generated by Simple Lightbox, the syntax looks the same.
    * Copied from working site plugin folder to non-working site folder and overwrote all files.
    * Removed all JavaScript on non-working site.
    * Enabled a different theme on non-working site.
    * Originally I had enabled the “Light” theme, enabled the “Dark” theme just in case something was wrong with the “Light” theme.
    * Tested using a different browser to eliminate a caching issue.
    * Tested using Chrome’s “Incognito Mode” to eliminate a caching issue.
    * Tested on a different computer to eliminate caching issue.
    * Dumped the database transients (just in case).
    * Restored the files in the plugin folder to the previous version (before the update).

    …I’m running out of ideas…

To test this please add the following line to your hosts file:
    162.249.125.209 ptiexperts.com www.ptiexperts.com

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Josh

Hi, it looks like you test server may not have cURL enabled or configured properly. Setting up cURL should allow SLB to function properly. See here for more information on SLB’s requirements including cURL support.

    Hey there,

I talked with my hosting provider and cURL is enabled.

The site I mentioned that is working (the one that I was comparing the settings) is also on that server, and just to be sure there isn’t a problem with the server, I created a new test site and it worked without any problems.

So, I’m guessing this is being caused by something else.

The only thing I can think of is the plugin is writing some information to the database and somehow that is not working properly.

I could fix this problem, by backing up my site and copying everything over manually, but that would take a while.

I would like to figure this one out though, that way if I encounter this issue in the future, I would be able to fix it without having to start from scratch.

What I was doing was trying to make a site live…

    * I didn’t change the database, but did a serialized search and replace (https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/) for my temp url to the actual domain.
    * I copied all my files over from the temp root to the domain root (via SFTP).

All of my site settings, images, pages, posts, etc. all came back fine – the only thing that stopped working was the SLB.

Could the serialized search and replace be the culprit, if so, is there something in the database I could look for?

    Your help is appreciated ??

    Thanks,
    Josh

Hi, disabled or improperly configured cURL is the cause of your particular issue 99% of the time. If cURL is enabled, then improper configuration is the more likely cause. Configuration is something that often needs to be done on a site-by-site basis, so the fact that it is working on another site on the same server does not rule this out.

Users have had to contact their hosts a couple times regarding this issue as they may not have looked closely at the specific cURL requirements. Once they asked the hosts specifically about these cURL settings for their site (especially that “cURL must be enabled for local requests”), the host takes a closer look and makes the necessary configuration changes.

That said, migrating the site in the way you describe can result in stale or missing data. Here are a couple things you can do:

    • Completely remove SLB (e.g. delete the folder/files via FTP) and perform a fresh installation via the admin settings.
    • Reset SLB’s settings via the admin plugin listing

    Ok,

So…I got back with my host again and they suggested that the plugin probably cURLs the actual domain, so I wouldn’t see the changes through spoofing my hosts file.

I updated my DNS to make the site live and everything worked like a champ.

That’s good to know for future reference and am really glad that it was not a plugin, coding, or database issue.

    Appreciate the help!

    Thanks,
    Josh
