• Update: The developer updated the plugin and all seems to be working inline with what is expected in the free version.

Developer could have avoided the problem by 1) responding to previous support threads indicating they had seen/corrected the issues and 2) indicating the support channel on their website was for Pro Version only support.

Couldn’t get the free version to even work. When I tried to fill out the support form on their website it was broken, stated a captcha wasn’t completed even though no captcha was displayed.

When I used their contact us form I received a response requesting FTP access, WP-Admin access, and Mailchimp access.

They have already been warned of this behavior in the support forums so it is not as if they are unaware

Their request to granting access to such accounts is a massive red flag and 100% deal breaker.

@hotrock3 First of all, you had reached out to the support for the Pro plugin and NOT for the free plugin which is hosted on www.ads-software.com.

As visible in your email screenshot, we had asked specifically asked for your Premium plugin License Code to verify your purchase. As a part of our premium plugin support, we ask for Temporary accesses to debug / setup our premium plugins for our customers to avoid going back and forth with debugging / setup hassle for our paid customers. Also, all premium customers are asked to change their Temporary accesses once the debugging is completed.

As per the guidelines of the www.ads-software.com free Plugin support, we have never asked for accesses for the free plugin support since we were instructed the last time.

Thank you for the clarification but nowhere on your website, or at least not anywhere easily visible, does it indicate the method I used was support for the Pro version only. Maybe this could be clearer on the website?

I went to the website as someone else with a similar problem posted 4.5 months ago and received no response within the wordpress support forum for the plugin.

I’ll open a post on the free support forum as suggested. I’m open updating my review if the issue is resolved.

@hotrock3 Don’t post emails. That’s un-cool and archived when found. I have removed the link to that image.

If any developer is sending their users to off forum contact for that admin ask then they risk having their plugins removed from the WordPress repo.

@devadattas This is a very important and very serious question: are you sending users here to off forum contact and asking for (and I quote)

    2. Temporary FTP access to the WordPress website
    3. Temporary WP-Admin access to the WordPress website

Remember, I’ve seen the email. Don’t dodge, do not prevaricate just answer the question completely and truthfully. As I’ve said it is important.

@jdembowski As mentioned in my previous reply, we NEVER ask for accesses to our www.ads-software.com repo plugin users.
