• The plugin does what it says and works very well.

    I had previously written a very negative review, but I have changed it now. The reasons for it can be seen below.

    _________
    Original review
    _________

    After its last update, this plugin stopped working.

    The comments area disappeared. It kept showing a pink background message “Param numposts must be a number less than or equal to 100”

    So, I went to its settings and in the “Comments plugin” tab set the number of post to 100 (it was in 1000, before). It did not solve the issue: The message disappeared, but the comments area was not back.

    I set, then the number of posts in less than 100. Same issue.

    Since on our site there are more than 100 posts, I am starting to suspect this not paid version of the plugin has a limit of post to be used. After it, it just disappears from the site. IF THIS IS SO, it is stated NOWHERE.

    I tried to go to the support forum, but there is no help there unless you pay. Since I don’t know whether the problem will be fixed (you can read other reviews of people who paid and didn’t get a straight answer), I don’t feel like paying.

    So, basically, do not add this plugin to your site unless you don’t mind paying for support you don’t know it’s going to work.

    __________
    My last post after the answer of the author and some updates of the plugin
    __________

    Since the original issue described in my original review is not happening any more, I am changing my review to a more positive one.

    Besides, Marcel Bokhorst took the time to answer to this review, and the apparent “pay if you need help” was clarified.

    The plugin has had some updates since I reviewed it, and now it works just perfect on the site (https://www.curicoalbirrojo.cl).

    I recommend its use, and I am considering upgrading.

  • First of all support is absolutely free and I answer each and every question to my best knowledge. Actually I have answered literally thousands questions and most people are quite content with it. I cannot make everybody happy, but give me at least a chance to try.

    Second the free version has no limits and is equal to he donate version, except that you cannot add the same link to multiple pages/groups (which is considered commercial use and therefore not free).

    The comments plugin is provided by Facebook, see also question U27 of the FAQ. Facebook may impose limits, but again the plugin does not. If it doesn’t appear as before, blame Facebook and not the plugin. This has nothing to do with plugin updates.

    On your new support forum:

    “Answering support questions for Add Link to Facebook takes too much of my free time. Please donate a few dollars before you request support”

    I am not making this up. Since there’s no clear way to add a new topic or ask a question, and you find that message welcome, the idea you get is “Pay to be assisted”.

    Comments plugin is provided by Facebook. Yes, you are right about that: And apparently Facebook IS imposing limits, since I have read complains like mine on other comments integration plugins in the last 24 hours or so.

    Please donate a few dollars before you request support

    And why is this unreasonable? Or are all plugin developers supposed to live on free air?

    Donate is not the same as pay.
    Donate = voluntary
    Pay = compulsary

    @esmi I never said it was unreasonable. That’s your word, not mine. All I said was in the new forum page “there’s no clear way to add a new topic or ask a question, and you find that message welcome, the idea you get is ‘Pay to be assisted'”

    @marcel Bokhorst I understand the difference. But, again, “there’s no clear way to add a new topic or ask a question, and you find that message welcome, the idea you get is ‘Pay to be assisted'”

    Aha! I think there’s been a misunderstanding here. The issue is that you can’t find how to post a new topic on https://forum.faircode.eu/ yes?

    Clicking on Add Link To Facebook in the forum list will take you to the correct forum ( https://forum.faircode.eu/forums/forum/wordpress-plugins/add-link-to-facebook/ ) but you need to register on the site to post a topic.

    @marcel Bokhorst: Have I got that right?

    Yes, registration is required. I tried without, but keeping spammers out appeared to be impossible.
