• After filling in all the details, the fast button in the post doesn not appear in the post in the backend. It does in the front-end, but then there is no skype account. Which is filled in the settings.
Also, my manual filled in text for ‘Chat with me’ does not appear in the tag below. So it’s not working for me.

Update: Thanks to your update the problem is solved! It works like a charm. It would be extra cool if I could have the button (image) also in my own text, or be able to change it. Most important thing is that it’s working great! Thanks!

  • Hi @yolandal, sorry to hear it’s not working for you. Do you wish to get support on this? If so, please share a link to a page on your site where I can see the button live?

Thank you for your support, I’ve already spend quite some time on this. I just leave it as it is.

Oh, OK. Too bad you did not consider asking support before rating one star and giving up… We could have both learned something.

    Well, that’s fair enough.
I’ll reinstall it and go through the settings and will give you an update.
    I appreciate the perserverance.

    Ok, here we go:
When I click on the green button in the post, why do I still get an option to overrule the default? Why doesn’t it just place the button with the default settings?

What does the A in the button stand for? This should be an S for Skype?

It doesn’t seem to accept my (new) Skype profile, it’s an emailadres, but your plugin shortens it to just y.lippens. This is an unknown Skype account.

Changing the free text below doesn’t do the job. It doesn’t have effect on anything. I have to change my text in the code below and copy/paste this into my post. But that’s not very convienant.

    Check it on https://www.yory.nl/hulp-bij-stamboomonderzoek/

I hope I explained it clear enough, due to language difference.

For your information: Since Microsoft took over Skype a lot of things have happend for Skype users. Also for their skypenames and loginnames. Many people have many problems finding their skypenames which can be their emailaddress for Microsoft. Or not. It’s not getting easier…

Indeed a lot has changed and it’s not getting easier… The plugin does not accept email as Skype name due to a script error that occurs then. Maybe that is why they dropped the old buttons as well as the online status support.

I read on the Skype forums that you should be able to find your actual Skype name (when you normally log in with a Microsoft account email) on https://secure.skype.com/portal/account/settings but I’m not sure. Does that page tell you anything like that after logging in?

I’ve browsed many articles to find my Skype name, but in the new software it’s just the MS emailaddress. The profile/username has dissapeared. Your software does have a change, it you stop the automatic shortening of the username, so it will accept my emailaddress, it might work. I’m willing to be a testperson for that.
For now I’m going to deinstall the button, but if you have made an update, let me know so I can test it.

That’s very kind of you. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks!

Hi Yolanda, you can download the new development version from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/skype-online-status.zip

First, uninstall (!) the current plugin version from you site and then install the zip via Plugins > Add new > Upload…

It should now accept usernames with @

Please note that the Chrome browser will throw an error ERR_BLOCKED_BY_XSS_AUDITOR when submitting an email address as Skype ID. This will look scary but just refresh the page and you’ll see the settings have updated correctly.

Please let me know if it all works (apart from the possible browser error) !

I’ll be working on resolving that Chrome browser issue before releasing this new version.

    Hi yolanda, any news?

Hi, I haven’t found the time yet to test it, but I sure will soon. Give me some time, I’ll get back to you.

Hi there, I’m testing it on https://www.onlinepraktijkemanuel.be/over-carmen/
One of the issues I have now is that it keeps showing the standard English text with CALL ME, instead of my settings. Even if I overrule after placing the button in the page, it stays CALL ME.
I haven’t tested the calling itself yet.

Hi Yolanda, the text remains english because it’s an image. Skype only made English buttons at the time. The plugin can only translate normal texts like tooltips (hover with your mouse over the button to see the dutch translation).

If you need to change the image text, you’ll need to create your own button image and replace the ones in the template (choose “custom” at the theme option and modify the image urls manually). And in case of the dropdown button, you need to replace more than one image.

See my my change of my main text. It works likes a charm, so I’ve changed my review!
