  • Any resolution to the mrcandyman83 post? Same thing happened to my site—my eModals are not working after the WordPRess update to version 4.5 on April 13th. I have the following error messages in the Dashboard within the Easy Modal folder after clicking on Load Method:

Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): No such file or directory in /home/xxxxxxx/xxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/easy-modal/classes/view/admin/modal/index.php on line 93

Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): A link to the server could not be established in /home/xxxxxxx/xxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/easy-modal/classes/view/admin/modal/index.php on line 93

I have the latest Easy Modal version of 2.0.17. Only thing not updated is my theme: Divi theme by Elegant Themes. Is it as simple as updating the theme or do I need to reinstall the eModal plugin with the old FTP files? Please provide some guidance. Thank you.

@mrcandyman83 – Based on the jQuery error in the console and that you said it broke on update to WP 4.5 you are looking at a broken theme, not easy modal. You can read more here and here.

@johnnie5 – Without seeing the site I would say check your browser console if you see something like Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: a.poplight[href^=#] then you will know what the problem is. Whatever file triggers that error will be the problem.

    Hope that helps.

@danieliser I have that exact error and none of my enrol or register interest buttons are working on our site. How do I work out what is triggering that error? Nothing happens at all when the button is clicked.

@pyneman – Your browser console will tell you exactly where the JS occurred if you use the black arrow below each error it shows a line by line of where the error originated.

    Hope that helps.
