Hi – this plugin looks promising but I can’t get it to work.

Have successfully connect 365 via the app registration process.

Fluent Forms is taking the form data (can see the submitted forms in admin).
But no emails are being sent. An email is not sent to the WordPress owner, nor is any email sent to the person submitting the enquiry.

I went through troubleshooting, ensured that email notifications are set up properly (though I can’t see anywhere to have a conformation sent to the person enquiring).

When I try to perform an email test in Fluent SMTP, I just get “Not Found”, no matter if I use the admin email or any other email. Just “Not found”.

I’d like to use Fluent, but I didn’t have these issues with Post SMTP. I must be doing something wrong, or the 365 integration isn’t working…?

Would really appreciate some help. Happy to refer clients to Fluent if it can work easily.

Hi – would really appreciate a response to this. I’m interested in moving all clients over to Fluent because I like the look of Fluent CRM, but at the moment I’m struggling to get emails working whereas this has been easy in the past with different plugins.

I have successfully integrated Microsoft 365 with Fluent SMTP, but all form email notifications fail.

The technical info for one of these failures is in the screenshot:

What aspect of this setup process am I missing?

    Thanks.

    Hello there,

We have investigated and found that the response comes from the API calls for certain account types. Usually, outlook does not provide permission for SMTP API for a certain account. You can try creating the API using a different account or you can contact outlook regarding the issue.

    Thank you

    Thank you for your reply.

It sounds like the 365 integration is not possible then.

Can you please provide more information? Exactly what types of 365 subscriptions or accounts doesn’t it work with, and which ones does it work with? Before I approach Microsoft, I need to know the information.

And just to re-confirm, I’m using Microsoft 365, not an outlook.com address, if that makes a difference.

Please let me know the specific details.

Also, how do we ensure high WordPress deliverability when using an email address that runs through Microsoft 365? Will the answer be a Sendgrid subscription? Hoping to avoid stacking subscriptions upon subscriptions….

Appreciate your help. Please let me know. Thanks.

    Hello there,

We have found that some of the emails does not have API access, Outlook group mail is one of them.

In addition, we see that the admin account that does not have a mailbox or the accounts which does not have access to exchange online mailbox also do not have access to the SMTP API. If you are still looking to access using those accounts you can try connecting via Other SMTP option by following the video: https://youtu.be/KvLbGegHOa8

Also, Outlook is not recommended for sending mass marketing emails. You can try a good email-sending service like Amazon SES/SendGrid to ensure a better email delivery rate.

    Thank you

    Thanks for your explanation.

One last thing I’d appreciate an understanding of:

What is the difference in benefit between using a 365 email account via ‘Other SMTP’ (i.e., smtp.office365.com, 587, TLS, username + password, etc), and doing it via the specific 365 Azure API method (which doesn’t work in this case)? The ‘Other SMTP’ is much simpler, works without any issues – so what is the benefit of the more complex 365/Azure integration, especially given that it is not recommended for bulk marketing email sending?

    Thanks again.

Basic Auth for O365 is being deprecated by Microsoft. I think the Azure API is the only way to not end up with problems soon.
