• After activating the plugin, it works as it should but if I make a single change, it will no longer work. It appears that it is failing to save.

    Hi @junior,

I know this is obvious, but just to be sure, can you please confirm that you are using the latest version of the plugin (2.2.8)?

There was an issue with saving options for a subset of users a couple weeks ago, but that was resolved. I suspect you’re having the same issue. If you are fully up-to-date, and still cannot save, we’d need to troubleshoot. It’s likely to be something specific to your environment as the lightbox, including saving option, is working well for us and most users.

Also to confirm, when you say it ‘will no longer work’, do you mean that saving/updating options is not working, or that the lightbox is not opening images on the front end after you save?

@firelightwp I am indeed using the latest version (Version:?2.2.8). Please let me know the steps needed for troubleshooting.

I can download it, activate it and it works fine. Upon changing anything and hitting save, it no longer works. Only deleting it and reinstalling it allows it to work again.

    @junior,

Any chance you could provide a link a page where I can see a gallery where the lightbox isn’t working? I’d like to see if there are errors.

Your issue is so outside the norm for what our users see that I’m not sure quite what else to suggest. The usual step would be to try deactivating other plugins for a while to see if the plugin continues to work in that case (if so, it would mean a plugin conflict). I recognize that’s often hard for people to do on a live website.

If you’d like to keep your site private, or want more direct support, you can send a note to us at firelightwp.com/contact (please reference this thread).

Hi @junior – I wanted to follow up and ask if you are still having this problem? I’ve been unable to duplicate no matter what I try. It sounds like a serious issue, so I’d be happy to look deeper and continue working on it. If you’d like me to do so, please send a note to firelightwp.com/contact. Thanks.

Actually, there is some JavaScript that runs on the options page. If there was a JS error breaking that code, it could cause what you’re describing. Do you know how to access your browser dev tools and the console? If so, could you check and see if there is a console error?

In case you do not know how to do that, it’s fairly simple. Here’s the process:
    * While on the settings page, right click anywhere on the page. A popup menu will show. Select ‘Inspect’. This will open the dev tools at the bottom of the screen.
    * On the dev tools, there will be a horizontal menu across the top. Look for and click the ‘Console’ option. If there are any JavaScript errors on the page, they will show here in red. You might try refreshing the page after you have this set up to see if there are errors when the page loads. You can also try clicking ‘Save’ and see if any errors show when do you that.
    * If you do see errors, just copy the text and past them here.

FYI – the JS is obviously working fine in nearly all cases. So if there is a JS error, it may be related to a bug with some specific combination of settings you have, or it could be something like a plugin conflict.

    Thanks.

There are no errors on the site upon checking the console. I am actually using another plugin but can activate this one temporarily to help troubleshoot. I just can’t leave it enabled for too long as my visitors will have no lightbox. I also sent an email to the link above.

@junior – thank for the follow up. Given this is a unique issue, if you’ve stopped using the plugin then I’ll probably hold on troubleshooting this unless/until I see another user have a similar issue.

Thanks again and wish you the best!
