Hi. This looks to be a great plugin, thanks.

However, it is not working with my custom post (created using ACF).

It does work with default posts. I have added the custom post in settings, and see from other threads here that it should be working (since 2022)

    My theme is Kadence.

Help in solving this would be appreciated.

    Thank you for contacting us.

Yes, we are, as long as the ACF custom post types have the capability editor on its settings.

Or any other custom post types as long as they have the editor capability in its settings.

You can test this out on our free version.

However, if your content is also created thru ACF fields or any other custom fields and not the default WordPress editor you would need to have the Premium version to be able to link the content.

Let us know if you need anything else.

    Thank you

Hi. Thanks for your reply but I”m not sure I really understand. I have no idea if ACF has ‘capability editor’. I simply created a custom post type (no custom fields) and then clicked the add post within the CPT area.

So, am I right in thinking that you are saying your plugin will not link to CPT content (except in Pro version)?

As it is, in settings I was able to add the CPT to “Whitelist of post types, that should be used for linking” which further states “All posts within the allowed post types can link to other posts automatically.” If this is only available in the pro version perhaps it might be a good idea to not allow the CPT to be added, or at least to state that I will need to upgrade to pro.

Unless of course I am misunderstanding?

OK, so I switched all the content in the CPT to the default Posts type. However, they’re still not linking.

Page which should be linked to with keyword ‘patella luxation’: https://focusondogs.co.uk/patella-luxation/

Page wanting to link to that: https://focusondogs.co.uk/affenpinscher/

This is what I meant by the editor support in ACF “https://prnt.sc/9Ktyz6Mb_lfO” , this means it supports the default WordPress editor “the_content” field.

So, am I right in thinking that you are saying your plugin will not link to CPT content (except in Pro version)?

Not exactly, if the custom post type is using the default WordPress editor for content, then it should be working on the free version as well.

OK, so I switched all the content in the CPT to the default Posts type. However, they’re still not linking.

First try to trigger the index build manually here: https://prnt.sc/fjYLwxSNp5s9 and wait until the index build finishes.

If it that didn’t do anything, this could be due to several reasons.

    1. Make sure the post types are added to the whitelist: https://prnt.sc/fD94XxwTF4lm

    2. Check the action scheduler to see if tasks are being executed correctly and no failed actions from ILJ:? https://prnt.sc/5maJ0WvCseWO , search for “ilj” in the search bar

    3. Can you send us an error log if there is any?

    4. Can you also send us a screenshot of your Dashboard and Statistics and our ILJ settings?

    Thank you

OK, after a LOT of testing, I think I’ve sussed the problem I’m having.

It seems that I have to do the link page FIRST. So any older posts with the keyword won’t link. Is that how it is supposed to work?

PS. I did carry out your suggests. There were no error messages and nothing changed. I can’t upload a screenshot as these forums don’t allow it

Would be grateful if you could reply to my question, when you create a post with a keyword, is it then supposed to link to older posts as well as new ones?

First you can share a screenshot using this https://prnt.sc/ , just share the links here so we can see.

The screenshot we would like to see is a sample edit page of the custom post type your trying to generate links to, so we may have an overview.

It seems that I have to do the link page FIRST. So any older posts with the keyword won’t link. Is that how it is supposed to work?

I’m not sure I understand this part properly, can you share more details?

when you create a post with a keyword, is it then supposed to link to older posts as well as new ones?

Yes, it should automatically trigger an index build and after it’s done rebuilding it should have generated new links if it find matches for it’s keywords.

    Thank you

    Link to screenshot: https://123club.co.uk/screenshot.jpg

This post (a CPT) was created first. I then created a post (default post type) and gave it a keyword of ‘Patella Luxation’. The first post did not automatically link. I tried to rebuild index but still didn’t link

However, when I rewrote the parts that should be linking, they then linked automatically. Same thing for ‘Hip Dysplasia’. Didn’t link until I retyped the wording. I tried it on different posts and they’re all the same.

It does, however, work correctly on the default post type, and doesn’t need to be retyped.

Hmmm I see, we are investigating this issue.

So they link? but in your site it requires to be retyped?

It seems the index build was not being triggered the first time? Do you notice the index build after publishing a CPT post for the first time? Does this change : https://prnt.sc/MwHSoGYgThqU ?

    Thank you

    >>So they link? but in your site it requires to be retyped?<<

Correct, but only in the custom post type (created with ACF). It seems that the default post type works without having to retype it.

    >>It seems the index build was not being triggered the first time? Do you notice the index build after publishing a CPT post for the first time? Does this change : https://prnt.sc/MwHSoGYgThqU ?<<

No, it doesn’t change. I have never noticed it anything other than 100%

    (@markilj)

Hmmm I see but the index builds and generate links so it might be changing however you might have a small portal so it just finishes quickly.

You can manually trigger it here: https://prnt.sc/fXisjP-KzbLY if you see any links that didn’t generate from the new posts or custom posts.

Meanwhile we will dig deeper on the mentioned issue above and check on what we can do to avoid and improve the functionality.

    Thank you
