This is the best plugin ever!
I was very happy that I finally found something that meets my requirements. Unfortunately it does not work in the DIVI theme of Elegantthemes.

When I create a page (like the start page in my example) in the DIVI-Builder, the search does not work. If you click on “search”, a page is displayed, which has no content.

If I set the search mask in a neutral WordPress environment (no DIVI-Builder) then it works.

I would like to continue working with DIVI, because it fulfills my ideas in design. Later I would also like to book your full version. But now the question:

could you check why your plugin does not work with DIVI Theme?

That would help me a lot!

    Thanks a lot,

    Hello Raphael,

We are happy to hear our plugin VikRentCar meets your requirements! Conflicts with Themes are usually pretty easy to be resolved as all our plugins follow the WordPress standards.

We believe the issue you are having is not caused by your Theme, but rather to the configuration of your home page. In fact, Shortcodes should never be used in the home page of your website, or all the routing functions won’t work, due to the fact that your home page has got an “empty” page/post ID. For this reason, the landing page would show no results as it would point again to your home page, which is your website base address.

We rather suggest using the Widgets of VikRentCar for your home page, for example, the one called “Search Form” could be used on any Sidebar of your Theme, or with your page-builder editor you could display this Widget in the home page.
Widgets come with a few parameters that should be set up, such as the parameter “Page” of each widget in Vik Rent Car will be used to obtain the landing page URL, so that all routing functions will work properly.

For example, from your page guests looking to rent a car will be redirected to a URL similar to “/book-now”, where the page “Book Now” is using a Shortcode of Vik Rent Car of any type.

In conclusion, please try using the Widget “Search Form” in your home page and keep setting up the various types of Shortcodes available in Vik Rent Car so that these pages will be used to start the booking process through the widget.

For any other technical questions we invite you to reach out to our technical support team through our website. Thank you!

    Wonderful!
Thank you very much for the explanation.
Exactly like this everything works perfectly.

However, there is one flaw: If I set the search mask horizontally in the widget, it doesn’t look good. This is because the widget has a certain width and cannot be displayed wider on the website/home page. So only the vertical display is possible. (The fields in the search mask are also a bit “reduced” in design and look a bit squeezed… otherwise the tip worked very well).
    Thanks

    Hello Raphael,

That sounds like a CSS conflict. It’s nothing you cannot resolve. Themes always apply their own styling, and depending on the position/sidebar where you decide to publish the Widget, there could be the need of applying some custom CSS rules through your Theme to make the whole form look better.

VikRentCar is already defining some default CSS styling for the Search Form widget, but it may be possible that the form can look too stretched for its size. You can turn off the category filter to make the form shorter, you can make the input fields less wide via CSS, or you can just change position to the form.
This is up to your default styles and Theme, it is just a graphical glitch that can easily be resolved without any kind of tweaks, just with a few simple CSS rules.

We are going to mark this topic as resolved, but please feel free to get in touch with our team through our website should you have any questions!

    Okay. Thanks for that.
Since I’m not good enough at handling CSS etc. myself, I will ask someone for help. But maybe my customer wants to use your template for car rental. Then that would be cleared.

Thanks a lot for your help.

We understand that Raphael. We usually do not offer support for CSS customization, especially when conflicts are caused by third parties Themes, but if you will be using our plugin VikRentCar, then you can always open a Support Ticket from our website to see what our designers can do to help you adjust some minor CSS conflicts about widths/margins/padding etc..

Of course, adopting one of our Theme would solve all conflicts, but you don’t need to do that. Once you have found the proper CSS fixes, no future updates will ever touch them, and so it’s a job that should be made only once.

    That sounds excellent.

I will gladly report this case via your website. If anyone would like to help me with CSS, that would be great!

I know that my customer will definitely book the full version of the plugin. But for now I decided to go for the free version, because I have to show and explain it to the customer first.

You are welcome to close everything here – I will contact the support via your website.

Once again: thank you very much for this very friendly and profitable support!

    Regards,
    Raphael
