The plugin is currently not working with Vimeo videos which have the private setting enabled. This is new as all of the videos on my website work with the private setting except for the one I have uploaded today which displays the error ‘video does not exist’.

All of my videos share the same shortcode (with different video id numbers) and all videos have the identical settings in Vimeo.

    Can you help

Hi, what happens if you use a video that does not have the private settings enabled?

    Regards.

    The video will play.
The issue only affects newly uploaded videos. All of my older videos are set to private and are displayed and viewable in the light box. Anything I upload now and set to private throws the ‘video does not exist’ error.

I can copy and past the shortcode from an older video but when I change the Vimeo ID to any newly uploaded video, it throws an error. All of my videos have the exact same settings on Vimeo. Old ones work in lightbox – new ones don’t.

Hi, what is the difference between the old shortcode working and the new shortcode not working?

Perhaps you can share both shortcodes here.

    Thank you.

The only thing that is different is that the video was uploaded to Vimeo this week.
All of my older videos work fine with the shortcode but if I upload a new video, it wont work and throws the error.

I suspect that there has been a change in the way that Vimeo is handling videos marked private. I re-saved an old video without changing anything and now that video doesn’t work either.

    Here’s the shortcodes;

    Working: [video_lightbox_vimeo5 video_id=”516355694″ width=”800″ height=”450″ anchor=”https://www.ianbean.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/pointing1.png”%5D

    Not Working:[video_lightbox_vimeo5 video_id=”618722539″ width=”800″ height=”450″ anchor=”https://www.ianbean.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/swsupport.png”%5D

As you can see, the only difference is the Vimeo ID. All videos, new and old share the exact same settings on Vimeo.

I’m stumped and Vimeo have been no help whatsoever.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    Please try the following shortcode.

    [video_lightbox_vimeo5 video_id="618722539" width="800" height="450" anchor="https://www.ianbean.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/swsupport.png"]

Let me know if it works.

    Thank you.

Thanks for your help so far.
That didn’t work as it is exactly the same at the shortcode I am currently using.

    Thank you

Hi, I checked your shortcode in my dev site. It does say the video does not exist. Can you contact Vimeo support and ask them if something has changed on their end?

    Thank you.

Thanks for your help so far.
I did contract them and they pointed me to this page.
I’ve tried adding the additional parameter to the ID in the shortcode but that doesn’t work.

    Here’s the page:
    https://vimeo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4409305565069-Embedded-player-displays-This-video-does-not-exist-message

The parameter as mentioned on the help page is: ?h=a5fea589e8

Following the reply from Vimeo’s support team, it looks like WP Video Lightbox will not now work with Vimeo vidoes marked private.
I have copied their reply below for your consideration.

    ———————————————————————————

I understand that you're inserting your videos into WP Video Lightbox in order to generate embeds.

However, for additional security, we’ve introduced a new privacy hash into the embed code of videos going forward. The player link will not function without the additional code, which is present in your full embed code.

WordPress does have a way to insert our full embed code into the HTML of your webpage, instead of just the URL, which is what you may need to do. Here's an article I found: https://www.hostpapa.com/knowledgebase/add-html-content-wordpress-pagepost.

I have this problem too, and it’s a real issue. Bloody Vimeo.
Hoping for a solution or I’ll have to abandon the plugin.

This is really good news. Thank you so much for your efforts get your plugin working again with Vimeo’s recent changes.

I’ve been using another addon as a short term solution but I will be switching back.

    Excellent support – Thank you.

    MANY thanks for this!

It indeed seems to be something on Vimeo’s end because I have the exact same problem and I’m not using this plugin, but a vimeo ‘element’ from my theme’s page builder instead. It works if I use vimeo’s embed code, but not the vimeo ID in conjunction with my theme (I use Avada, in case any one is wondering)
