Can you verify you went to the WP-Content Listener’s settings page and checked the checkbox next to “Protect selected directories” and also checked the checkboxes next to the folders you want to protect?

Also make sure the file(s) you want to protect are not in a published post.

Maybe send me the url to the file that should be protected and i can take a look too.

Okay, sorry, I should have indicated I was only trying to track – I did not have the “Protect selected directories” checked because I do not want the image(s) protected per se. I want the images to be available to all, I just want to track them.

I have a few images (in posts) that are heavily used/abused by Google Image Search and others.

But I did check it just to test, and I see that the images are blocked – even if they are in a public post, and no stats either.

The images are getting the following sample URL: domain.com/wpcl-listen-slug/?f=10/[undisclosed].png – which seems pretty good. When protected checked, I get a 404 from an image URL (seems right), when not protected, I get the image (seems right), but no stat hit.

oh, sorry. I forgot to add in the description that the files are logged to Events. So in Google Analytics you can go to your Events -> Files -> Download and you should see all your image files there.

I’m no expert at google analytics, but I think you can click on the “Secondary Dimension” below the graph and select “Full Referrer” to see where visitors are coming from.

To clarify for the images in the public post: it needs to be attached to the post, not just in the content area. A little confusing, i may just take out this feature.

Thanks. yes, I thought it might be events, unfortunately I don’t have “Files -> Download” in my Behavior -> Events -> Events Category section…yet. It may be dynamic and will show up in a while. We’ll see.

Although, I was hoping it show up in Real-time Events. And since there IS realtime events, it makes me wonder if GA is getting the tracking hit at all. I’m not getting any PHP errors to the log indicating a curl or fopen issue.

And that’d be nice to get full referrers.

Yes, it did show up in Events. Everything’s working. Thanks.
