I just activated the WP Super Cache on a GoDaddy-hosted WordPress site — all versions and plugins were up-to-date. The site does use a static page as the front page, and does use the permalink format your faq called out as a problem.

I did the “easy” activate, pushed the test button, and kaflooey, the entire site was gone. Just white pages, including the WordPress dashboard, so I could not deactivate Super Cache.

I had to take the Super Cache plugin out manually via FTP (thanks for the instructions on that, BTW!), and edit the wp-config file to remove the Super Cache database call.

What I did not have to change was the htaccess file. Might the problem have been that the htaccess file did not get rewritten as needed? I might be willing to try again if I had the code the htaccess file needs to enter it manually.

Hi,

I have the same problem as described above with the same hosting provider (ding, ding)…

The problem is I got beyond activation to configuration and then BAM, white pages…but I want to use this plugin.

Also please let me know what Super Cache database call I need to remove from the wp-config file as subsequent re-installations display the white page symptom on activation and before configuration.

Help anyone?

The instruction on what to delete in wp-config (it’s on the faq page) is:
“Delete the line define( ‘WP_CACHE’, true ); and save the file.”

But there are two lines, that one and the one below it, which also referred to “cache”. The third line in that section you will be able to clearly see refers to your GoDaddy WordPress database — keep that!

the same thing happened to me and now even though it is entirely deleted my .htaccess keeps being rewritten in to and appearing with boilerplate instruction. My site then disappears with error notices now, used to be white pages. The only way I get my site back is to delete the entire .htaccess file as I tried deleting the bolerplate and caching garb lines in it that brought my site down but even that still meant site was down. Only way at moment to keep site up is deleting .htaccess completely and then as i say site is back. Tried renaming plugins folder to pluginsxxx but no change site still down unless ,htaccess NOT PRESENT in file manger at cpanel! considering reinstalling but what is point if no site possible
