The goal of our plugin is not to replicate the Google Analytics dashboard, the goal is to show the statistics that matter and discover and present (as we move forward; bearing in mind the dashboard you’re looking at is completely new and will get more and more reporting through the year) insights that matter. Bounce rate is a great example of a number that means absolutely nothing without context. If you don’t understand why there’s a bounce rate, simply stating a bounce rate provides no reasonable data-driven action on which a normal user can take an action to improve their site.
We actually give the downloads tracking you mentioned for free to all users. And we offer a pro version with more features tailored to businesses with ad tracking.
The difference between our plugins and others is we focus on the tracking itself. We have by far the most comprehensive tracking of standard pages, plus we offer tracking for things like Facebook Instant Articles and AMP pages (both in an invite beta) that others do not.
It’s sort of weird to give a rating to a plugin based on features of another plugin. By this definition you’d need to give Easy Digital Downloads a 1 star rating because it doesn’t offer physical goods, and WooCommerce does that. You could say, we’ll but that isn’t the point of EDD, and you’d be correct, but then again here you are rating a plugin based on numbers that we don’t show, that aren’t a part of our core mission.
