• My WordPress site stopped working properly after I updated wordpress. I have several custom post types that work fine, but for some reason linking or viewing core pages does not work. I feel like this has to do with permalink but I have disabled and reset and still nothing. I originally had no “posts” on my site. With testing I created a post. Now any time I try to view any core page or go to “mysite.com/admin” it directs to the test post I created.

Also, I have tried disabling all plugins and using default wp 2013-2015 themes still no luck

Not sure how to fix this. Could it be Database Corruption?
Preformed database repair and optimization with no luck in a fix.

Any Tips on fixing would be greatly appreciated.

  • How did you update WordPress? Check various core folders and files for the correct permissions. What version did you update from?

This issue was caused after an automatic update. The site was at 4.2.0 (I believe) working fine when it auto updated to 4.2.1. This is when my permalinks issue happend. everything else works fine. its just this issue. Is there a wp datasheet that lets me know what files should have what permissions?

    Thanks for your help.

Normally all folders should be 755 and all files 644. Your situation may vary. If you have questions about proper permissions, ask your hosting company.

If your permissions all seem correct, you might try a manual update using this information: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update
