Nothing is updating! D:

I have that last version of WordPress, I desprately need to update not only WordPress but some of my plugins, but when I click “Update” for anything, it doesn’t update it just says “Downloading Update from {then the update url here}” and never goes any further. it used to update in a matter of seconds but now, nothing. And I would update WordPress manually but I’m not to sure how to do it, and don’t want to mess it up and lose everything. Can someone please tell me how to update manually, tell me why its not updating when I click update, or give me a link to a tutorial on how to back up my pages at least so i can just reinstall WordPress?
