Notice: Connection problems for HIX printers when using LetsEncrypt certificates
-
As of 30th September 2021, the original Root CA certificate used by LetsEncrypt has expired. This means that all web browsers and devices must be updated to trust the new LetsEncrypt Root CA certificate.
Star have already provided firmware updates for printers using the HIX (HI01x/HI02x) interface cards. However any customers who have not updated will be experiencing connectivity problems if their web site is using LetsEncrypt certificates. These users can update their printer firmware, or configure their printers https certificate trust levels to resolve the issue.

Note that mC-Print model printers are more recent and all firmware revisions should already trust the newer Root CA cert used by LetsEncrypt. However, updating firmware to version 3.0 or later is highly recommended for mC-Print devices, to enable support for TLS 1.2, now required by many web hosts.
