Notice for Avada Users | CS JS HTML Minification
-
*** THIS IS A FRIENDLY PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ***
Good Day,
To those using the Avada theme, please take note.
Activating CS, JS, and HTML Minification within SiteGround Optimizer (SGO) could negatively impact your website. There’s nothing wrong with SGO, just be aware of this. For more details, read on.
For the past couple of years we used SGO to minify our files but, today, we realized that Avada and our plugins already deliver minified files, so there’s no need to minimize with SGO.
If you further minimize the files with SGO, and if using Avada’s sliders or complex containers above the fold, you may notice some of the images (and other content) bounce around or flash for a brief second.
The reason for the above is because SGO’s minifiers may not properly parse code that is already minified, resulting in broken output (minor perhaps, but could happen).
"A good analogy would be imagining a set of physical parts that need to be shipped in a box. Many themes and plugin developers use space efficiently and package their parts neatly in the smallest box possible. SGO's minifiers unpackage everything and sort the parts again, then tries to repackage them in a new box. It's always possible that parts can break during the repackaging process."
Hope this helps a bit.
Cheerio!
