I host my woocommerce site with bluehost. Whenever there’s a new order, the notification emails go to Spam folder. Well I can create a filter for my gmail account.

But I would like to use WooCommerce Sponsor a Friend Plugin, where my customer can refer my website to their friends. But this causes the problem. The email provider thinks that the referral emails are Spam. “Why is this message in Spam? We’ve found that lots of messages from box1170.bluehost.com are spam. “ Is there anyway to get rid of this problem? I feel like I am wasting money to purchase this plugin if it cannot be implemented..

This has nothing to do with the WooCommerce plugin. Your server is using the bluehost SMTP server to send out mail. Google thinks that lots of mail sent by this server is spam and therefore automatically labels it as such.

The best alternative would be to find a different SMTP server to route your outgoing mail through.

Once you’ve found one, there are plugins available to help you configure the outgoing mail settings on WordPress.

Please let us know if there are further questions!

As far as I know bluehost doesn’t let you use remote SMTP servers, but it looks like they’ll let you change the ‘from’ address of the emails sent out, which could help with your problem: https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/206

I already solved the problem by installing WP-Mail-SMTP plugin, and took another hour to configure the plugin so that it works properly.

    1. Must create an email account at bluehost cpanel.
    2. Use this email address as the “from” email.
    3. use TSL encryption instead of SSL encryption
