notification emails not working

I went through the FAQ and installed the smtp mail plugin, setup a new email for wordpress use, tested and received the test email, but still can’t receive the notification emails about facebook blog comments from this plugin. I have all the information requested in the Facebook Comments Notifier Settings saved correctly. Help please?
