Notification of visitors to admin — Sound?

  • Hi,

    We like this plugin a lot, and are considering the multi agent add-on.

    However, we are a retail shop, and we don’t always have the admin page of our website open or someone sitting on the PC.

    Aside from the SMS option, is there a way to get notifications on th desktop when you have a visitor?

    We don’t want to have the live chat option available, and miss a visitor. That’s worse than not having the live chat option at all.

    I’m thinking a notification sound, or something. Any thoughts?

    Hi zenbike,

    There is a notification sound in the WP Admin area when new messages are received. And you’re right, SMS will also help.

    To build out a version that pops out seems like overkill when you could just leave the WP Admin window open (or am I missing something?).

    I’ve thought about using Google Talk so that you could use any IM client you want, but it seems like its being shut down. Still looking for other options.

    I have no sound either and have tried on and off since I installed it. Still haven’t figured out why. My sound works on everything else….

    Are you using Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Opera?

    We’ve tried it in Firefox, IE9, IE10 and Chrome. We have also tried it on 3 seperate computers.

    I’ve just checked Chrome and IE9 on Windows Vista, and there was no issue for me.

    When you’re in the WP Admin area, you have to be on the Lively Chat page to receive the notifications. Is that where you were trying to get the notifications?

    What is your domain?
