Notification on new bbPress topic

Can I get a notification on creation of new bbPress topic? At the moment the ‘new post’ trigger does not do this. Maybe because it only works for ‘post’ post-types. Would be nice if you could add triggers for custom post types as well or if the ‘new post’ trigger would work and I could add a filter to only trigger for new posts of post-type ‘topic’ for example.

Anything like this possible or coming soon?
