Notifications causing wordpress freezing

A few days ago, in my wordpress dashboard, I seen (2) under notification in all in one SEO. I have never seen a notification before so I clicked it. My firefox browser froze, it would not unfreeze and firefox said that a page is causing the pages to slow down but I couldn’t click anything to stop the page. I had to completely shut down the computer. I went to wordpress again, the same thing happened when I clicked on seo, on the notifications. I went through this for 2 days and I was not able to access seo dashboard, I did a maleware and virus scan, everything seemed ok. Today I went to wordpress and the (2) notifications was there again, I clicked it and it froze so I had to go to task manager to end firefox, this took 15 minutes because nothing was responding. It looks like the seo plugin is calling out because my browser hourglass is going off ever so many seconds and I was able to view the logs in my webserver that seo has called out 200 times in a few days. Is there a virus in this plugin? I tried deactivating and activating, same problem. Should I just uninstall and try a different seo plugin because it seems to be calling out and using resources.
