Notify Vendor – No longer supported?

Hi there,
a vendor complained that they no longer receive emails once an order was placed. After checking in the email settings I came across this
New order emails are sent when an order is received/paid by a customer. This email has been deprecated.
How else does the vendor know when they have sold a product?
