[Plugin: nrelate Most Popular] Show only older posts

I’ve been searching a lot for a plugin/widget which shows horizontally at the footer of the homepage of my website. I want it to specifically show randomly older posts.

I’ve tried a lot of different widgets like for example the advanced random posts widget but that one doesn’t scale the thumbnails right. The other’s also don’t do exactly what I want.

The best thing I came across is nrelate Most Popular. Obviously the name says it all, it will show popular posts. Is there anyway to manipulate it to show only older random posts? I figured there would be a way with excluding a category, but that hasn’t worked, it still shows pretty recent posts (probably because they are more popular then older posts).
