Number of Facebook shares looks extremely high

    Hi, I am a happy user of your plug-in. However, I have doubts that the number of social shares for one particualar page is correct.

    It has close to 1,300 shares on Facebook according to Maxbuttom. The page has 1.672 views (says Google Analytics).

    I have recently installed a SSL certificate which actually reset the number of social shares from 400. Is it possible that the SSL certificate has anything to do with this?

    Yes Facebook treats http and https as completely different pages, so that means if your page has both a non-SSL and SSL version you have two different counts.

    The plugin gets this information directly from Facebook, you can check it here – https://graph.facebook.com/https://menschmaschine.dk/mallorca/

    You can change the URL and see what your counts are.

    Thank you very much. Now it makes sense as I learn the number of shares comes from Facebook. I guess it means that when someone sees the shared link and share it without visiting my page it counts as two shares.
